3 Mills Studios Sponsors the Director: Fiction Award at the British Academy Television Craft Awards 2018

On Sunday 22nd April, 3 Mills Studios sponsored the Director: Fiction category at the British Academy Television Craft Awards.

3 Mills Studios has worked closely with BAFTA as a supporter since 2015 and has now sponsored this award for the third year in a row as part of our ongoing relationship with BAFTA.

The Director: Fiction category was incredibly strong this year, and was won by Philippa Lowthorpe, the Director of Three Girls. The other nominees were:

Jane Campion – Top of The Lake (China Girl)

Mackenzie Crook – Detectorists

Paul Whittington – Little Boy Blue

Philippa Lowthorpe – Director: Fiction – Three Girls – presented by Mark Bonnar with 3 Mills Studios sponsor

Philippa Lowthorpe is the only woman to have won the British Academy Television Craft Award for Director: Fiction, and has now won it twice! She first won the award in 2013 for Call the Midwife.

Three Girls is a dramatised version of the events surrounding the Rochdale child sex abuse ring. When presented with the award for Director: Fiction, Philippa Lowthorpe gave an incredibly moving speech which you can watch here.

We were also thrilled to see Erika Ökvist win the award for Makeup and Hair Design along with her colleagues for their work on Taboo. Erika is now working on a new production at 3 Mills Studios, so we can’t wait to see what amazing work she will do whilst she’s here!

As always, the British Academy Television Craft Awards was an excellent event, and it was incredible to see so much astounding British Talent in one room. We would like to congratulate all of the winners and nominees.
