PRESS RELEASE: BLAST Premier kicks off the year at 3 Mills Studios
Friday 24th January 2020
Twelve teams, three weeks, top esports entertainment and an iconic British TV-studio.
BLAST, the leading esports entertainment platform, recently announced twelve of the worlds best teams as participants in BLAST Premier, the innovative new global tournament series in Counter-Strike.
After a successful 2019 with stops in Sao Paulo, Los Angeles, Madrid, Moscow, Miami, Copenhagen and Bahrain, BLAST now brings the best esports entertainment to one of the most important cities in the world. BLAST Premier kicks off 31 January 2020 in the iconic 3 Mills Studios in London for the studio’s first ever esports production.
Jonny Lincoln, Head of Sales and Marketing, 3 Mills Studios:
3 Mills Studios are very excited to be hosting our first ever esports production with the team behind BLAST Premier. We have hosted many audience-based productions previously including the first season of Big Brother, Million Pound Drop and not to forget the preparations for the Olympic Games’ opening and closing ceremonies. Giving the public a glimpse of the magic taking place within the studio campus is always a fun experience. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our productions and we are looking forward to building on the great relationship we have with BLAST Premier, a leader in the fast emerging esports genre.
BLAST are having their first ever studio setup in London and 3 Mills Studios was the perfect match for the London based organisation.
Andrew Haworth, Director of Operations & Production, BLAST:
When we were looking across Europe for studios for the inaugural BLAST Premier Spring Series, 3 Mills Studios leapt out. It’s such an attractive venue with an incredible iconic legacy, it was the obvious choice for our first tournament in London. The team there have been great to work with and we’re looking forward to kicking off the 2020 BLAST Premier season in style.
Global superstars from teams like Astralis, Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses and the new counter-strike rosters from the legendary esports organisations OG and 100Thieves will amongst others be competing over three weeks, one group per week, one game at a time. Number 1 and 2 from each group qualify directly to the BLAST Premier Spring Final in Moscow later this year, where the winner takes home 500,000 USD and a spot in the Global Final where the teams are competing for 1,500,000 USD.
