3 Mills Studios Plays Host to the BAFTA TV Craft Awards

PRESS RELEASE: Monday 13 July 2020

This year for the very first time, BAFTA will be taking its British Academy Television Craft Awards exclusively online.

In accordance with current restrictions, the awards ceremony will now take place as a closed studio, socially distanced show, with nominees invited to accept their awards virtually.

This will be the 21st year of the TV Craft Awards, which recognise, honour and reward individuals for outstanding achievement in television craft.

3 Mills Studios has sponsored the Director: Fiction category for the last five years and is pleased to have broadened its participation this year in supporting the filming of the closed studio show.

The British Academy Television Craft Awards, hosted by Actor and Comedian Stephen Mangan and filmed out of 3 Mills Studios, will take place on Friday 17 July and will be broadcast as-live through BAFTAs social channels including at www.youtube.com/bafta.

BAFTA decided to pivot the TV Craft Awards ceremony to an online format in early May and 3 Mills Studios provided the perfect match for their needs.

Paul de Carvalho, General Manager, 3 Mills Studios:

“The BAFTA TV Craft Awards are one of the major celebrations of the year for our industry, recognising the best work of our talented crew, which is even more important in the current time. 3 Mills Studios has been a strong supporter of BAFTA over the past 5 years and we are excited to be furthering our involvement this year by enabling the first ever virtual awards ceremony. It is also an opportunity for us to celebrate the successes of shows filmed at 3 Mills which have been nominated across several categories, including Giri/Haji, Killing Eve, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and This Way Up.”

Stephen Mangan, Presenter of the BAFTA TV Craft Awards:

“I’m absolutely delighted to be hosting the BAFTA Craft Awards again – handing out our industry’s highest accolades to the people who make this country’s television world-leading. The format might have to change a little this year, but nothing will stop me putting on black tie and celebrating their success.”
