BAFTA TV Craft Awards Director: Fiction Nominees 2024!

It’s almost BAFTA TV Craft time! We’re so excited to attend this weekend as sponsors of the Director: Fiction category for the ninth year running.

JOSEPH BULLMAN Partygate – Halcyons Heart Films / @channel4

Joseph Bullman is an English documentary and drama director. Most known for his films in the world of British politics, he has previously won two BAFTAs for Best Single Drama (The Left Behind in 2020 and Killed by My Debt in 2019). This will be his first time nominated for Director: Fiction at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards.

PARTYGATE – Comedy-drama, Docudrama – Factual drama that tells the story of Covid from inside 10 Downing Street as staff kicked back at lockdown breaching parties.

LEWIS ARNOLD The Long Shadow (Episode 6) – @newpicturesltd / ITV1

Lewis Arnold is an English television director whose first TV credit was directing two episodes in the final series of BAFTA-winning Misfits (2013). He has previously been nominated for a BAFTA five times, winning one in 2022 for Best Mini-Series (Time).

THE LONG SHADOW (Episode 6) – True Crime Drama

A desperate cat and mouse hunt ensues when Yorkshire is being haunted by a serial killer.

Peter Hoar is a British director of film and television who was also nominated for an Emmy for this episode of The Last of Us. His first TV credit is was for directing episodes of Grange Hill, and he has previously won in this category in 2022 for It’s a Sin.

THE LAST OF US – Post-apocalyptic drama

After a global pandemic destroys civilization, a hardened survivor takes charge of a 14-year-old girl who may be humanity’s last hope.

William is a writer and director from London who began his career at the BBC working in both radio and television production. William was awarded in this very category last year for his work on the previous series of Top Boy. –

TOP BOY (Episode 6) – Crime, Thriller

Two London drug dealers ply their lucrative trade at a public housing estate in East London.
