Tom Hardy brings 1960’s gangster underworld to 3 Mills

Tom Hardy brings the gangster underworld to 3 Mills Studios with the filming of LEGEND, which follows the rise and fall of the notorious Kray twins throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s. Hardy stars as both Ronald and Reginald Kray, the violent gangster twins from East London, who terrorised the city for two decades.

Based on John Pearson’s book ‘The Profession of Violence’, LEGEND is written and directed by Brian Helgeland (who won an Oscar for writing 1997’s LA Confidential), and also stars Emily Browning, Christopher Eccleston and David Thewlis. It is produced by Working Title Films and is expected to be released in 2015.

Ronnie and Reggie Kray were infamous for their involvement running organised crime rackets in London’s East End and were both jailed for life in 1969 for the murders of fellow gangsters George Cornell and Jack ‘The Hat’ McVitie. Ronnie died of a heart attack in prison in 1995, while Reggie died of cancer in 2000, eight weeks after he was granted release on compassionate grounds because of his illness.

LEGEND is filmed at 3 Mills Studios and nearby locations.
